Abstract

This study explores the relationship between supply chain visibility and supply chain performance, while examining the mediating role of supply chain resilience among manufacturing enterprises located in industrial zones in Vietnam. The research model is developed based on the resource-based view and dynamic capabilities theory, which suggests that visibility is a strategic organizational capability that enables early identification of risks, thereby fostering resilience, a dynamic capability that allows firms to adapt and restructure in the face of disruptions. Survey data were collected from 189 enterprise managers and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) to test the relationships among variables in the proposed model. The results show that supply chain visibility positively influences supply chain resilience but does not have a direct effect on supply chain performance; instead, it exerts an indirect impact through resilience. These findings emphasize the essential role of supply chain resilience in the relationship between visibility and performance. The study provides theoretical implications by adding empirical evidence on the mechanism through which visibility and resilience interact, and practical implications by suggesting that managers should invest in transparent information systems and develop resilience capabilities to optimize supply chain performance in a highly volatile business environment.
