Vietnam’s bravery in relation with China in contemporary times (1950-2020)
Abstract
In contemporary times, Vietnam is the only country in Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia that accepts a direct and comprehensive relationship with China. Despite the pressures from the Chinese leadership, the Vietnamese government has never given up its stance on autonomous foreign affairs. Depending on the political context of each specific relationship period, the Government of Vietnam always knows how to flexibly apply the external motto “Using stability to cope with changes” to effectively exploit this relationship. In the process of relations with China over the past 70 years (1950-2020), the Vietnamese Government has always known how to handle cleverly to protect the integrity of national sovereignty.
