Abstract

Inquiry the natural world under chemistry is one of three specific chemistry competencies that need to be developed for students to meet the goals of the new general education program. However, most teachers are still quite unfamiliar and confused in finding ways to organize for students to form and develop this capacity. Therefore, researching effective ways to develop students' ability to inquiry the natural world under chemistry is necessary in teaching Chemistry. Applying the process of inquiry- and problem- based learning in chemistry teaching will create many opportunities for students to form and develop this capacity. The article presents the compatibility between the process of inquiry- and problem- based learning with the manifestations of the ability to inquiry the natural world under chemistry, and suggest the contents that can apply inquiry- and problem- based learning in teaching the topic of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements to develop students' ability to inquiry the natural world under chemistry. The article illustrates two contents that apply teaching to explore, solve problems and analyze the expression of competency criteria in each activity on the topic of Periodic Table of Chemical Elements.
