Abstract
The article focuses on analyzing the current status of regular social assistance activities for young people with mobility disabilities in An Nhon town, Binh Dinh province (at the time of the study, An Nhon town belonged to Binh Dinh province; after the administrative unit merger on July 1, 2025, the area became part of Gia Lai province), in order to propose some recommendations to help increase the effectiveness of support for this group of people. The research was conducted using the descriptive analytics, questionnaire survey method, combined with in-depth interviews with cultural - social officers/social work collaborators and young people with mobility disabilities. The results show that although the local government has made several efforts to implement regular social assistance activities, the effectiveness is still limited due to several reasons: (1) the resources are limited; (2) the team implementing the assistance is not yet professional, and (3) the beneficiaries are not proactive in accessing support. T he paper then proposes recommendations aimed at consolidating resources, improving the social work practical competence of the implementers, and promoting the equitable involvement of youth with mobility disabilities in community life. T h e study offer s an evidence-based foundation for enhancing social security policies and expanding the ongoing social assistance network for all people with disabilities, with a specific focus on young people with mobility impairments i n Vietnam.
