Synthesis of Co2[Fe(CN)6]/g-C3N4 composite as an improved photocatalyst for degradation of methylene blue
Abstract
In this study, the Co 2 [Fe(CN) 6 ]/ g -C 3 N 4 composite was synthesized by first preparing g-C 3 N 4 and Co 2 [Fe(CN) 6 ] separately, followed by their coupling through the dispersion of Co 2 [Fe(CN) 6 ] onto g-C 3 N 4 at 90 o C for 1 hour. The resulting materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS), and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The photocatalytic performance of the composite was evaluated via the degradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution under sunlight irradiation. The Co 2 [Fe(CN) 6 ]/ g -C 3 N 4 composite exhibited superior photocatalytic activity compared to the individual components, g-C 3 N 4 and Co 2 [Fe(CN) 6 ] .
