Abstract

Truyen Ky Man Luc (Collection of Strange Tales) by Nguyễn Dữ is considered as a masterpiece of Vietnamese legends in medieval Vietnamese literature. The work has shown many manifestations and consequences of gender inequality in contemporary feudal society that women have to endure, thereby enhancing its the realistic and humanitarian value. Despite not realizing the existence of gender inequality and its causes in feudal society, Truyen Ky Man Luc is still worthy of being one of the most typical works of medieval Vietnamese prose in Han script thanks to its great artistic and content contributions.
