Abstract

The Chinese Remainder Theorem is considered one of the important contributions of the Chinese to the world treasure of mathematical knowledge. The Chinese Remainder Theorem has been used by the Chinese in astronomy and calendar calculations since the 2nd century BC and was stated in mathematical language around the 5th century. However, it was only in the 13th century that this theorem was rigorously proved by the Chinese mathematician Qin Jiushaq. The article presents the Chinese Remainder Theorem in Chinese and Sino – Nom mathematics books (Vietnamese mathematics books written in Chinese and Nom characters). Thereby, it is possible to partly imagine the ability to receive and develop the mathematics of the Vietnamese mathematicians in the Middle Ages and the contemporary significance of mathematical knowledge in Sino – Nom mathematics books in teaching mathematics today.
