Abstract

In many English language teaching (ELT) programmes, textbooks play a crucial role, so textbook evaluation is an essential part in the process of teaching and learning process. This study investigates English teachers’ perceptions of the strengths, limitations, and overall suitability of the textbook Voices (Pre-Intermediate) for non-English-major courses at Quy Nhon University. Twenty-four English lecturers from Foreign Languages Department at Quy Nhon University took part in the survey. Data were collected through an open-ended questionnaire administered via Google Forms, allowing for rich, descriptive responses. The findings indicated that teachers generally had positive perceptions of the textbook in terms of content, skills, and methodological feasibility. Despite some challenges related to listening speed and limited cultural depth, the textbook was overall considered suitable for non-English majors at Quy Nhon University. In addition, this study is also a useful source of reference for those who are interested in using this textbook with similar contexts.
